There is a game in development right now coming out in about a month called Kingdoms & Castles and it's probably exactly what you're looking for. It's a grander strat where you campaign over Europe but it ticks all the boxes and is really a one of a kind game (also has a sequel in development by black sea games) No one else will probably mention this, but if Real Time combat oriented medieval strategies is your boat - give Knights of Honor a shot. The modern anno games and settlers7 are garbage don't bother with them. The old /r/patientgamers Essential Games ListĪOE is probably most similar, settlers and anno are more builder than combat focused, but you can grab anno 1404 (dawn of discovery + venice) or settlers 6 rise of a dingleberry or whatever for a few bucks each on Steam and they will satisfy that builder itch if you're feeling that more than any other game will.
